Professional Services with Christy
Throughout my 10+ years of being a therapist, I’ve had some amazing supervisors who have taught, molded, and mentored me. My background includes a few years in community mental health, as well as many years in a successful private practice.
One of my favorite things to do is to pass the knowledge I have absorbed onto other therapists through Private Practice Consulting, Consulting for Health Insurance, and providing Clinical Supervision. I am available to meet in-person, or conveniently over Zoom if you’d prefer. Each Consulting or Supervision session lasts an hour, but I also offer 15-minute phone Consults for quick business questions or clinical/ethical situations.
Private Practice Consulting with Christy
I’ve learned in the field of therapy that it is hard to know where to start! In school, we therapists are taught how to be good at our craft, but not how to build or run a business. It can be extremely overwhelming to think about the business side of therapy. I’ve watched other therapists start private practices and fail within a short time because they don’t know what they don’t know.
Through my Private Practice Consulting, I offer a service that helps to remove an insurmountable obstacle and makes it easier to navigate. My job is to help you avoid pitfalls, as well as coach you on your blindspots. In the past few years of helping other therapists build their practices, I’ve created a streamlined process that makes it easy and takes the guesswork out. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather an individualized process to meet you where you are currently and get you where you want to go. The resources I provide will help you to successfully set business and personal goals, and independently-run your practice.
I have successfully helped other therapists build thriving practices from the ground up by mentoring and coaching. Some of the topics I cover during Private Practice Consulting include but are not limited to creating the business name, filing for a business LLC/S-Corp and Tax ID, choosing HIPAA compliant Electronic Health Records (EHR’s), educating you on how to choose a niche(s), marketing by creating a social media presence, diversifying risk, establishing business policies and procedures, setting healthy boundaries between yourself and clients, creating a consistent brand, writing and preparing client intake paperwork, creating a digital footprint through your website, establishing multiple income streams, growing your practice, managing a healthy schedule for work-life balance, having a smooth and easy client experience, and establishing fees, hours, and methods of communication with clients. I help therapists get paid what they are worth based on education, experience, and credentialing.
I also work with therapists who struggle with the confidence of going into private practice. I know what it feels like to feel inadequate or to experience Imposter Syndrome! Private practice can be isolating at times, and I’m here to help support and encourage you as you take the giant leap!
In addition, I work with therapists who have an existing practice but are looking for some additional support to grow and thrive. If you are struggling with marketing, increasing referrals, client retention, or ways to make your business more efficient, I would be happy to work with you! Whether it’s one hour of us working together, or many hours, I think you will find the value I provide is priceless!
Consulting for Health Insurance with Christy
Many therapists are intimidated by taking health insurance and don’t know where to start. I love to help therapists understand the ins and outs of taking health insurance. I have 10+ years of experience in billing insurance for mental health! I know how overwhelming and confusing all of the terms and processes can be (like speaking another language!). I know that attempting to take health insurance can be information overload, and I can guide you to the information you need and steer you away from the information you don’t. I have taken all of the confusion out and created an easy step-by-step system for filing with insurance.
Some of the topics on billing health insurance include: verifying client insurance coverage and benefits, knowing the difference between all the insurance terms (copays, coinsurances, deductibles, out of pocket maximums, etc.), in-network versus out-of-network benefits, CPT codes, accepted mental health diagnoses, how to bill an insurance company, how to stay compliant with documentation, and what to do once the claim is processed. If just reading this is overwhelming, trust me when I say I can break it down into much simpler and easier terms to understand.

Clinical Supervision with Christy
I also offer Clinical Supervision for Pre-Licensed and Licensed therapists in the state of Indiana. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2011.
I provide Clinical Supervision and consulting for cases where you may feel stuck, have an ethical dilemma, or need another perspective. I absolutely love spending time with other therapists consulting on cases and learning from one another. I also help therapists who are experiencing compassion fatigue and burn out. Self-care is an extremely important topic when it comes to Clinical Supervision! It can be hard not to absorb all the emotions when we hold space for our clients. Feel free to reach out for more information!
Testimonials from Other Therapists
“I knew virtually nothing about setting up a private practice prior to working with Christy. She walked me through the entire process, from the beginning to the end. I appreciated that she was available by phone outside of our meetings to answer specific questions as I was filling out various forms. She took the guesswork out of setting up a new practice. As a result, I felt confident and prepared as I launched my new practice.”
